# Community rules

Effective 13 October 2026

Truth or Dare only works when everyone at the table wants to be there. These rules are part of our [terms of use](https://truthordaregame.net/terms). They apply in online rooms and in games on one phone, and they apply to the host as much as to anyone who joins.

## 1. Every card is a choice

A card is a suggestion, never an order. Anyone can turn down any card, skip, or leave the game at any time, without giving a reason.

- Never push, dare or guilt anyone into a card they have refused.

- Never ask for a "yes" before someone has seen the question.

- Stop a dare the moment someone asks you to, including one already started.

## 2. Be kind

Tease, don't hurt. No harassment, threats, bullying or hate about anyone's race, religion, caste, gender, sexuality, disability or body. No mocking someone for an answer they gave honestly.

## 3. Keep it private

What is said in the game stays in the game.

- Never push for photos of anyone's body, nudes, passwords, passcodes or a look through someone's phone.

- Never share another player's answers, screenshots, messages or details outside the game without their permission.

- Never bring in people who are not playing: no prank calls, messages or dares aimed at them.

## 4. 18+ means 18+

The Spicy and Extreme decks are for adults. Pick them only when every player is 18 or older and wants to play them. We do not check ages, so the host and everyone at the table are responsible for this.

Nothing sexual ever involves anyone under 18. We report it to the police.

## 5. Names and messages

Player names, avatars and messages are seen by everyone in the room. Don't use a name that pretends to be someone else, insults someone or is sexual, and don't post links, spam or ads.

## 6. The drinking game

The drinking game is only for people of legal drinking age where they are playing, and it is off unless someone turns it on. Water counts as a sip. Never pressure anyone to drink, and stop when anyone has had enough.

## 7. Reporting a player

Email [hello@truthordaregame.net](mailto:hello@truthordaregame.net) with the room code, roughly when it happened and what was said or done. Screenshots help. For anything urgent or dangerous, contact your local police first.

We read every report. We will not tell the other player who reported them.

## 8. What we do about it

Depending on what happened, we may remove a message, close a room, or suspend or close an account, without notice. Anything involving a child, or a threat to someone's safety, goes to the police.

If you think we got it wrong, write to the same address and we will look again.
