In a room, the host’s Playing apart switch drops everything that assumes you are sitting together, so nobody is handed a dare they cannot do from another city. It is on by default, because a room joined by link is usually played apart. It matters most in the Couples deck, which is where a plain truth or dare site falls apart for anyone long distance. The same-room cards there each have a twin written for a camera, so the deck stays nearly the same size and the mood costs you nothing. Truth or dare survives the distance better than any of them because it already runs on turns and one prompt at a time, which is exactly the shape of a phone call or a message thread. The practical version: put the call on speaker or prop the phone up, open a room on whatever device is free, and play a round on the Couples deck.
